Modeling Photoshoot at Good Records in Dallas, TX - Zaria
Zaria, along with the rest of her immediate family, are one of my most loyal clients. I began photographing Zaria’s modeling journey when I first started digital photography 5 years ago. She and her family were my very first paying clients, and we’ve continued the business relationship (and friendship) ever since.
This photoshoot was done inside (and outside) of Good Records in Dallas, TX. Zaria’s mom reached out to me with the location idea and I was immediately on board! It’s been at least 2 decades since I last stepped foot inside of a record store… the last one being in New Orleans during my mid-teens. The shop was a lot bigger than it looked from pictures on Instagram. Once inside, we paid the photographer’s fee of $50 and began our shoot.
It was a gloomy day and natural light was a challenge to use in the parts of the shop that were the furthest away from the windows. The store was stacked with vivid, yellow shelves filled with records from a variety of genres, old and new. Soon after we began, the customer traffic started to quickly pick up.
One thing I try to avoid is “being in the way” of customers when I’m in an establishment. I never want their customers to feel like their experience is being infringed upon by me or my clients possibly being in their path while they are trying to browse through merchandise. After taking a few photos in front of the yellow CD stand near the front entrance, we headed outside to finish the photoshoot.
My favorite images captured from this session were taken outdoors. The vibrant colors of the brick buildings and smaller structures outside really matched the color scheme of Zaria’s wardrobe and added flare!
Zaria has improved so much! I’m excited to see where she goes in her modeling career. There are big things ahead for her!
